Comments about Sherwood Elite Fins:

As a follow up to my first review I finally got these puppies wet. Spent 2 hours snorkelling and got 2 dives on them as well. These did not disappoint. Very light weight. Easy to put on in the water or on deck. Easy to remove in the water while maintaing a hold on the fin thanks to the heel strap.

The slightly positive buoyancy allowed for a better trim. In current at the surface you don't need to kick hard to move against it. Note however that I'm a strong kicker. These fins are very powerful and efficient.

Thanks to sherwood for producing these excellent fins with XL sizes of 13 and 14s.

I just got my fins today so haven't got them wet yet. I did however want to post a review as reviews for these fins are non-existent making it harder for online customers to purchase.

Firstly, get the sizing right. Sherwood has sizing for these fins on their site. I used this to validate my size and it fits well. I wear size 13 with width of 2E/EE shoes. With my size 13, 5mm hard sole boots I get a comfortable and snug fit. As the straps aren't adjustable sizing becomes even more important. If you wear 14s as long as you are a 2E/EE you should be ok. Note I tried the fins dry not wet and we know wet makes a big difference.

Secondly. I like the silicone heel strap as an alternative to spring straps. It seems very solid. Obviously they won't have a working life comparable to SS springs but I get the feeling they don't affect the buoyancy and allows the fin to remain light weight.

Come weekend I will get these babies wet and see how they perform both snorkeling and scuba so for now I can't talk about efficiency. From the outside they look exceptional added to the fact they have an extremely comfortable foot pocket where the upper portion appears to be "rubber" hence the comfort and a plastic like foot plate. This alone makes these more comfortable than my other scuba fins which I love dearly.
