RUSSELL L I have an 11.5 foot and need to know what size you would recommend in these fins? I presently have the scuba pro twin jet in an extra large but after a while in the water... I feel like the fin becomes "loose" on me. My foot "seats" itself into the pocket and the spring straps barely hold anything on my heel. I do have to say that I used to wear 5 ml. boots and have gone down to 3 ml.Ultimately I want to find out if I should go with a large in these with the 3 ml. boot. Thanks
TAZ G I wear a ladies 7 and bought a small, I went to a dive shop to get an idea. My boot at the time was 5ml, now 3ml.
These fins have straps that tighten. I did not need to when switching boots.
JOHN T My foot is a 9, EEE. I bought the Seawings in a Large. With 7ml booties or DUI Rockboots, they fit my foot fine. Prior to purchase, I tried a pair of XLarge and they were too big for my foot and 7ml bootie. I hope this helps.
Rafael B I am about a 9.5 an wear a medium and no slip offs -- I would say try a large and if they still slip then use Leisure Pro's great service to exchange up. You will know after a couple of dives.
I WOULD HOWEVER STRONGLY CAUTION YOU NOT TO USE THESE IN THE OCEAN ESPECIALLY WHILE UNDER SOME CURRENT - THEY ARE WORTHLESS!! YOU WILL CHEW UP AIR VERY QUICKLY. USE A GOOD STIFF FIN INSTEAD. I WAS STUBBORN BUT LEARNED THE HARD WAY WHILE IN FIJI.
However, despite the difficulties with ocean current, I kept my gorillas for lake and river diving here in Texas -- as they are ideal.
BILL L You may want to consider future diving plans. I wear a size 11 shoe and with the lightweight boots that I wear in the Caribean there is very little tension on the straps. But diving in the rock quarries in the Midwest I need the XL size wearing a dry suit with the boots attached. You may want to look at a different sole style in the 3mil. boot. A heavier sole my take up the slack without changing fin sizes. I hope this helps, Bill.
MARSHALL B My feet are size 11 and I wear 3 mm boots. I have the size large and they seem to fit very good. I think trying the size large is worth it. If you have a tall arch they might be a little tight.

I am also 11.5 foot. I bought the Gorilla fins in X-large but that was a mistake as they are WAY too big. My foot is swimming with 7mm boots. Get the Large.

PATRICIA S Love these fins... I wear a medium in these, foot size 7 woman's, or 5 in men's... I did have a size small but they would make my feet go numb. The straps are bungee and stay tight. Hope this helps....
TODD B I have a size 10-1/2 foot and I bought the medium size. I read all the reviews anoint the nova's being bigger and to order a size smaller. I use mine and they work great. I tried on an XL in a shop with the same boots and they felt almost identical. From my experience you could order med, large, or XL and they fit very similar. I realize this sounds strange. I'd buy XL and I don't think they will be loose. I have 3 mm boots with the hard sole. Hope this helps.
Paul L I wear an 11 with a 3 mil boot and the large seems to fit well. If you want to wear a hard sole boot then I would consider an XL.

Paul L They are very light. Seems like a polymer rubber mix. Less than 1.5 lb each fin, but seem durable as well. It uses the same kick style as the rocket style using a stiff leg as opposed to the split fin which is more from the bent leg. They are roughly 5 in. wide at the foot and 8-9 in. At the blade. Total length is roughly 18 in. About the same length as the split fin but not as wide. I use a large twin jet and the sizes are the same. 10.5 wide foot. Mine are a large and fit fine with a normal bootie not a hard sole. I would reccomend a large for 9.5.

Jean-Marie T I don't get much thrust; I have skinny little legs. Wd a less stiff blade be better for me?
RON B These fins were being tested by a long time dive master we met during a trip in Fiji. He loved them. I bought them. I love them. I had used split fins due to knee problems, but these are much better. My wife complains about not getting much thrust and intends to buy these too.

VICTOR R I've used several different kinds of fins. I'm not a big guy and I LOVE thse fins. They have most power per stroke of any fin I've owned or used.
DAVID R I have used the Seawings for the past year and a half. The are very easy to use. They require a lot less effort than regular fins. What I like about them is that normally into my second dive of the day, my legs would get a little tired. Not at all with these. They are also very fast.

JIM M Probably. You should get maximum thrust for amount of effort when your fins are moving through the water at about 45 degrees to the line of the direction of movement. Divers who like a stiff fin are kicking harder to get that 45 degree flex, but because that harder kick moves the fin through the water faster, they get lots of propulsion. If you want to get the 45 degree flex without having to kick so hard, you should use a more flexible fin. Some fins are designed to provide the 45 degree flex and go no further, so no matter how hard you kick, you still get the correct angle of attack from the fins. This is the intent of the Seawing design.
GEORGE H I have been diving for 35 years and most of that time I used Scubapro Jet Fins exclusively. I do quite a bit of dive travel and the Jet Fins are a bit heavy. I decided last year to try out the Seawings and was pleasantly surprised. They are much lighter weight and provided a surprising amount of thrust. I was leary at first, but now, I wouldn't dive with any other fins. Good diving. Pat Howle
JAMES B Jean-Marie, I'm not sure if you already have these fins, or are inquiring how they perform before you buy.The seawing fins are the best fins I've used to date. I find I use less effort than with others and don't cramp-up when hard finning is needed. I don't have "skinny little legs", so I'm not sure how they'd perform for you, but the hinge action might give you an easier kick. JB
JASON L IF YOU CAN GET THE RIGHT FIT I WAS REALLY INPRESSED WITH THIS FIN. IT IS SMALL IN SIZE COMPARE TO SOME SPLIT FINS AND VERY LIGHT WEIGHT FOR TRAVEL. I USED THIS FIN RECENTLY IN COZUMEL WITH CURRENT AND IT WAS AWESOME. I WOULD RECOMMED IT HIGHLY AS WELL WITH THE TEAM FROM LEISUREPRO.
GETTING BACK TO THE FIT. I HAVE A HIGH INSTEP AND THERE WAS A LITTLE PRESSURE ON THE INSTEP. I PICKED UP A DIFFERANT STYLE BOOT WITH A RUBBER STRIP ACROSS THE ARCH IT WORKED OUT PERFECTLY. HOPE THIS HELPS.
Shopper Anyone currently own these and have used the regular Seawing Nova's before? Feel much of a difference?
Ben T These are slightly stiffer and gave me better thrust when frog kicking. Other than that, feel and weight are the same as the Nova's.
Shopper size 8.5 foot, what size would I need?
Paul L Here's the thing. If you have a pronounced bump on the top of your foot between your ankle and your big toe like me, then you will be more comfortable with a bootie that has a rubber guard on top. These booties are thicker then normal neoprene booties. I am a male with a size 10.5-11 foot and I have a normal arch. I wear a large rocket fin if I use normal neoprene booties, but if I wear a rubber guard bootie then I need a XL rocket to accomodate for the extra material.
Ultimately ask the dive shop if you can demo the fins you want on a dive or in a pool and use the booties you will wear. If not then at least bring your booties and try them on at the shop and feel for any pressure points. Keep them on for at least 5 min and see what you think is best. I've noticed that even the slightest pressure points when trying on fins will make an uncomfortable experience if you do heavy finning. PL

LAUREL M I bought a similar pair of ScubaPro fins (Scubapro Seawing Nova Open Heel Fins) last summer before going to St. Thomas. I used them on 25 dives in 12 days and loved them. To answer your question, I am female with a normal size 7 foot. I bought a size small and wear them with neoprene booties since my fins are open heel and have the spring strap. If you wear booties, I would suggest the medium size. You might go to a local dive shop and try a pair on before purchasing them to be sure.
LARRY F I have the Scubapro Seawing Nova and I wear a size 8 1/2 shoe. The medium size fits me perfectly. My wife has the same fin in a small and her's is just a bit too small for me.
LAURIE M I wear between and 8 1/2 and a 9 and the small works fine for me. I love them!
