MARSHALL S Excellent Zeagle quality. Lighter weight than Ranger, so easier to travel with.
Shopper I need more lift than the scout's default 24lb bladder can offer. Can I order one with a larger bladder from leisurepro?
Shopper Already own and love Zeagle Ranger...looking for light weight warm water travel BC...any idea what BC weighs ? DF
MARSHALL S The BC weighs 5 pounds exactly !
ROBERT C According to Zeagle it weighs 6.7lbs. It's a great BC. I got mine as an alternative to my DiveRite to lighten the travel load. I've had mine for about 4 years and use it in the pool at least once a week (I'm an instructor) and it has held up well - especially since I don't do anything special to rinse it after being in pool water. I've also had it on a bunch of trips to the Pacific where weight is getting to be a real issue.
I wish it was even lighter weight, but there is definitely a trade-off between construction that lasts awhile and getting the weight down. I think it's a good product. It has lots of flexibility for how you set it up and it's held up well for me. I bought it mainly for travel but it's become my primary bc. Hope this helps.

I bought this to replace my Zeagle stilletto and continue to be impressed after three years that an entry level basic bcd could be so capable. If you haven't guessed I'm a fan of the Scout !

ERIK K Just weighed mine...came in around 6lbs.
My Zeagle Ranger Limited weighed in at a little over 9lbs for comparison purposes.
Biggest advantage for traveling with this BCD over the Ranger was the reduced volume and bulk more than the actual weight reduction.
FYI: Weight dumps are velco in the back next to the tank, not the usual Zeagle rip-cord! Side pouches are for gear only.
DON B I have a ranger BC and love it however I bought a scout to cut down on bulk when I fly and on cruses. The scout fits the bill with out compromising a quality BC. The pockets are smaller but fit and layout work well.

Shopper Will 24lb of lift be adequate enough for me? I rec dive California with a 7mm suit and generally 16 lbs and steel tank... I weigh about 165 at 5'6''.
KEN G I don't think there is a simple yes/no answer to your question. If it were me, I would find out the lift capacity of my current BC, estimate how much of that capacity I'm actually using, and compare that to the lift capacity of the Scout. I'm sure you know whether you need lots of air in your BC when you dive or only a little. If you're only using a little air in your current BC to stay neutral, then the Scout will probably be fine for you. If you need a lot of air in your current BC, then you might need a higher capacity BC than the Scout to replace it.
MICHAEL A The Zeagle Scout BC works great for me because it has very little obstruction in the front of the BC. I use it for spearfishing and wreck diving (as in sunken boats). I use 20 lbs and aluminum tanks, my weight is 186 lbs. The only reason to inflate a BC is for buoyancy control under water. As you ascend you want very little air if any inside your BC because you need to control how fast you go up and the Zeagle Scout I have only has release pulls in the rear-bottom and the inflator hose (which is harder to use when releasing the air). I rather use my fins to go up slowly or use a line attached to the boat stern or the anchor line. The great thing about the Scout is that I can lay comfortably flat at the bottom and have less drag when chasing fish mid-water. It's great for spearfishing. Hope this helps.
MICHAEL M I weigh 210, 6ft., dive cold in a dry suit with 25 lbs of weight and a steel 100; this vest provides all the lift I need without a bunch of extra drag under water.
MARSHALL S 24 lb lift should be very adequate for this diving experience.. Your body weight generally does not affect the amount of lift capability that you would need in your BC.
DANIEL S I have one and dive with it in Monterey, using a 7mm Farmer John and AL tanks and 29lbs. It works, but it's kind of pushed to its limit, so I'm starting to think about getting something with more capacity,to be absolutely sure that I can stay positive in the surface (and not have to dump weight). Wanted to save a little $$ when I got it, compare with a higher capacity BC. I don't regret it, but mildly wish I had saved up a bit longer to get a proper backplate and wing.

Shopper does the lumbar pad fit the zeagle scout?
MARSHALL S The Zeagle Scout BC is shipped with a very cushy lumbar pad. Most divers would be very happy with the padding.
DAVE D I am not sure you can still get one but I have half a dozen BCs and this is the best one I ever owned.
KEN G I own a Zeagle Scout BC but I've never tried to add an additional lumbar pad. The web site, which you've probably seen, seems to imply that it will fit any Zeagle BC but it doesn't actually come out and say that. The lumbar pad that comes with the BC is more than enough for me and I think the Scout is very comfortable as is. Sorry I couldn't answer your question more directly.

Shopper What is the integrated weight system like? Is there a release system?
LeisurePro S The rear pouches can hold up to 20 pounds of weight, but they are not ditchable. There are not releaseable weight pockets built into the BCD. A weight belt is needed for use with this BCD, so you can release the weights, but the back pockets make a nice options for shifting at least some of the weight you would use off the belt.
Shopper Does the BC have any of the quick dump valves ? Rear or shoulder ?
LeisurePro S The Scout BCD has one remote shoulder dump on the left shoulder, and two lower dumps on the bottom of the bladder.
Shopper is this bc made for cold water diving? is there a depth limit?
LeisurePro S More for warm water travel and no limit. The ranger is the cold water model.
