David J Do these gloves protect from Lion Fish stings? Is 3mm thick enough or is 5mm better protection?

Staying away from the spines is the only thing that will protect!
We were using gloves that protect from hypodermic needles and the spines still found a way around!
I took a bad hit in the knuckles right through a kevlar glove! Neoprene (any thickness) will not even slow down those spines.

MARGARET C Sorry, couldn't tell you since there is no way I would touch a Lion Fish. :) Used them for the 1st time in 72 degree springs swimming with the Manatees in Crystal River, FL. Kept my hands warm.
STEPHEN M Just got back from Rotan Honduras, there were a lot of lionfish there, and bottom line unless you had steel gloves I don't think anything would stop their sharp spines. The take-home message from the divemaster was you touch them you're going straight to the hospital. The good news is they're extremely docile fish. They stayed mainly on the bottom and are found in crevices or holes. We wore no gloves at all and had no problems
