Questions about this item:
Shopper If I purchase two of these 10 lbs weights, will they fit into my AquaLung Pearl i3 integrated weight pouches (one per pouch of course)?
GERARD L Can't say,,I use regular weight belt .
Shopper what is the size (length and width) of these weights?
R K M I have the 2lb and the 10lb. The 2's are 2.75 in. wide and 3.25 in. tall. the 10's are 3.75 in. tall and 6.25 in. wide.
GERARD L Duuuu-de,,they are your normal "lead" weights!!!.. But they are well made,,as the past weights were made very coarse & not true ,,these are "Dakine" !!!!
HAWKEYE P I only have the 2lb. It is 2 3/4" Wide x 3 1/4" High x 1" Deep.
RODNEY B The size depends on the weight. The slots fit a standard weight belt
RENE D 2 pounds are 3 inches long and 2 inches wide. 5 pounds are 4 inches wide and 5 inches long. They are very comfortable weights. 12 pound weights are 7 inches long and 4 inches wide.

Shopper What's the general rule of thumb for figuring out how much weight you need?
LeisurePro S A very rough guide is to start with a base of 10 percent of your body weight and then add 2-10 additional pounds depending on what kind of suit thickness you are wearing, what kind of water you are diving in (salinity) and what other accessories you might be carrying.
Shopper I clean Boat Bottoms and I use a 3 mil full wetsuit with 3 mil hooded west and 20 lbs weight. I'll get a Henderson 7mil semi-dry hooded full suit. How much weight should I get for that? And what size of them?
LeisurePro S I would imagine you are going to need any where from 5-8 more pounds of weight. If you have the suit already, you can estimate 3 pounds of every one pound of suit. Or you can start from the beginning and, using the rough rule of thumb, take 10% of your body weight and add around 6/7 pounds for the 7mm suit. As far as what size weights to get, you just want to keep balancing in mind, so you can have the same amount of weights on both sides of your hips. Smaller sized weights, if you have the pocket space, also lend themselves to greater flexibility.
Shopper How wide are the openings to thread on a belt? Would they fit on a 3" wide belt?
Shopper What weights would you recommend for plain web belt with plastic buckel - recreational diving
LeisurePro S I would recommend the coated lead weights, they cost a bit more but you don't have to worry about lead exposure because the weights are coated with a protective coating. Here is the link Aqua Black Vinyl Coated Lead Weights
Shopper Why Did You Choose This?
MIKE P leisure pro had the best prices on weights, it was cheaper to order through them than go and buy weights locally or anywhere online.

GERARD L THink I said this already,,,,I needed it !!!!
KATHERINE N Good durable weights.
Greg S Just bought last year's Bare dry suit on Leisure Pro and am starting to wonder what sort of lead I'll be needing for it. I have used a 5mm wetsuit before and needed 18-24#. Since the dry suit has little to no neoprene, am I looking at using more or less lead?
ANTHONY B You will absolutely need more weight with a dry suite
STEPHEN B You normally need more depending on How thick insulativ e suit is; and therfore how much air it holds. I dive 20 ils in semi dry but 26 with dry suit; 55 water
GERARD L This is difficult because you do not spec the kind of dry suit . I use to use 12 lbs. with a neoprene 7 mm suit ,twin 100's & back up pony . The first 30' I use to pull my self down line to limit too much weight at bottom . These depths were 120' . My weight is 170 lbs. Check with dive shop in your area for better answers .
JOHN D I don't have a dry suit but my understandings is that you will use less. Each suit style will have to be tested in the water.
Marilyn S It is likely that you would need more, but this is something that should have been covered in your dry suit certification class (which if you have not taken you definitely should as it is a completely different animal from diving wet). And as with wetsuits, you will need to test buoyancy in the water. There is no simple formula to predict exactly how much.
WILLIAM P If you have a drysuit certification you should probably know the answer to this question. If you do not have a drysuit certification, then you will learn the answer in class and verify your needs in a controlled environment during your checkout dives. Drysuit diving is very different from diving wet. Please do not put yourself and others at risk by "winging" it...
MICHAEL R Hi Greg, welcome to the wonderful world of dry suit diving! I'm not sure exactly what dry suit you have, but you mention it has little to no neoprene, so I'm guessing you will be wearing some kind of undergarments with it. In most cases, you end up increasing your lead when you dive dry to make up for the added bouancy of the dry suit and the items worn under it. It is difficult to tell how much since the layers vary from area to area. It's best to take a dry suit course with your local dive shop, they will work on getting your weighting right. I hope I was able to somewhat answer your question. Be safe, and I hope for many, many safe dry dives in your future!

You like the more traditional weight belt for several reasons. One, they increase your stability in the water, and two, they make handling your scuba system much easier because it's lighter out of the water. Sea Pearls uncoated bullet style weights are a long favorite of experienced divers. These weights are accurate and true weight, they are more comfortable then block weights, because the weight belt threads through the center of the weight rather than through multiple slots. Weights are manufactured with antimony which is an alloy, to increase lead's hardness and mechanical strength... more
