CONSTANCE S Yes batteries are included. If you click on the tab that says "includes", it tells you that batteries are included.
ANN B It includes batteries, but it doesn't hurt to have spares. It takes 3 batteries ( not sure the type but they are small metal ones).
FAREED H Batteries are included - 3 small one's. The kind used in clocks. You have to tighten the base to activate the strobe, remember to loosen it when done with diving. Its a great device.

VERONICA H I believe they were included. We keep so many batteries it wouldn't have been a big deal if they weren't but I believe they were. We used these in addition to the chem lights and were very pleased.
