ANDREW C William, Had a total of two 8000Gs. Good camera and I was getting fairly good at taking macro with it. Lost the second one to a flooding incident in the Phillipines about a year ago. Replaced it with the DX-GE5 - a totally different camera which will not fit in the 8000 housing. Fiber optic cable is different than the 8000. Fitting for the wide angle lens is also different so your old lens will not attach to the GE5, different mounting, possible that there may be an accessary fitting to allow it to work, but I'm not sure. Also can't tell you if the strobes can be interchanges, the GE5 I got came with a YS 02, tray is the samebut the arm is different, single and longer arm, no longer split into two pieces, has spring loaded clamps and bigger "pivot" balls I find this camera lacks a lot that the 8000 had, especially user settings, in fact, the camera itself is much more simple (i.e, dumbed down), both in construction and in use, hard to get used to and I couldn't get the same macro shots as before although there were some fairly good shots intermixed with the not so good. To sum it up, I feel the only advantage the GE5 has over the 8000 is the screen size, much easier to see with old eyes underwanter, other than that I preferred the 8000. Sorry I can't answer the question concerning the strobes.

Brett H The sea and sea ys-01, 02 and 110A strobes will work with this camera, as will the sealife 961 digital pro flash and the intova iss4000 will too although you would need to pick up arm, base and fiber optic to make it work. My favorite is the sealife digital pro flash.
