Questions about this item:
Shopper I have a aqualung balance BC and it has two grommets on top of left pocket and I'd like to know if this knife fits perfectly there. The length between the grommets is aprox. 9cm (from the center of each grommet/ring). If it fits, does it come with everything to attach or I have to buy a extra piece to attach it to the the BC?
Regards,
Marcos Galv?o
RICH F Fit my Seaquest Pro QD perfect. Dimension from c-to-c of grommets is 3-15/16". Everything was included.
WILLIAM B Yes the knife will fit the grommets on the pocket and the knife comes with all the mounting hardware. I have the same knife mounted on my sequest/aqualung BC. Aqualung now ownes sequest.
Marcos G Thank you William, I'll be ordering right now!
KRISTI E The knife comes with everything you need to attach it to the bc. There are two screws and the distance between the screw holes is 10 cm. I have a SeaQuest Libra bc and my grommets are 9.5 cm apart and it fits perfectly.
Hope this helps!
Marcos G Thanks a lot kristi!
MATT O Buy it, it will fit
Frank L Yes, this knife will fit. It comes with the screws to attach it to the BC.
Marcos G I'm gonna buy it then! Thanks!
Mars C Hi - Is this the knife that fites the Seaquest BCD ?
Regards
Mario
MATT P I like the knife. It fits my Scuba Pro BC (Sea Hawk).
The attachment fits through the gromets on the BC pocket with the attachments provided.
I like the fact that it locks in place. I have had no problem removing it or having it come loose.
It is a good one.
Regards,
CATHERINE W Sorry, I have no idea.
cw
JOSEPH M Yes it does, fit mine perfectly nice knife too
Mars C Thanks Joseph - I'll place a order soon
Regards
Mario
DANIEL Z Yes it is. I have the Seaquest Pro QD i3 and the sheath attaches to the grommet holes (with the included barnacle bolts/nuts) on the left pocket perfectly. The total knife size is perfect...the bigger knives (the big squeeze) stick out too much and kind of droop. Of course, the big squeeze does not come with barnacle nuts...but if you could get them, I believe the sheath will take them. I have both knifes...and the Squeeze Lock version is the perfect size to attach to the grommet holes on the left pocket and sit there out of the way.
GABRIEL P Hello Mario,
This knife is not made for any specific BCD. Its universal and will fit any BCD that has built in knife mount holes to attach it with.
I have this on my BCD as a backup knife and it is great!
jason b What is the weight of this knife verses the weight of the Stainless steel version.? I know it's lighter, but how much.?
ANDREW D A lot. I have had mine for years....titanium does not corrode. More than worth the extra cost. Use surgical tubing as a cheap and self retracting lanyard. Run it from hole in handle to the scabbord. Dive safe.
FREDERICK M Without having both to weigh I can't say exactly, but I can't imagine it's very much - especially underwater. Specific Gravity of 4.5 for Ti versus 7.7 for stainless. So maybe an ounce or two? The nicest thing is Titanium's corrosion resistance and ability to keep a sharp edge. Stainless is also corrosion resistant, but typically gets dull faster.
jason b I appreciate the input, though it does not help. I know the charactoristics of stainless & titanium, I am looking for actual weights.
thanx
JB
JON K Jason, while I don't have a similar size stainless steel knife, I'd say this one is about 1/2 to 2/3's the weight of what a SS knife is. It also absolutely has not had any corrosion or noticeable wear. I like mine. Hope this helps. W/r, JK
Shopper Do you. Know if it will mount to a Seahawk?
JIMMY B describe seahawk is a Bc. weight belt , etc. I have mine attache to a sherwood BC. great choice
JAMES B I don't have a Scubapro BC...mine are all Seaquest, however, I believe that the knife mount gromet spacing is standard on the BC's so the knife should mount OK. Leisurepro is really good about returns if you find it otherwise. You'll like the knife. Small enough yet big enough and the titanium stays very sharp.
HENRY B Aloha,
I like these knives, especially the smaller titanium tanto, a lot.
Without actually having a Seahawk--and without knowing your size and diving situation (wetsuits, gloves, mits, etc.)--I can?t say for sure how well this will work for you.
I will say the sheath offers more attachment options than any other sheath I?ve seen (35+ years diving).
It might mate horizontally with the knife attachment grommets on the Seahawk pockets. Depending on your size it might work attached, handle-down, on either the shoulder straps or on the LP inflator hose (I?d use doubled zip-ties at both top and bottom mountings, rather than the supplied hose straps, for more security if attaching it to the LP inflator hose).
I think even the smaller SqueezeLock may be a little long for shoulder mounting (I use a really small--3"overall--Cold Steel ?neck knife? mounted on the shoulder strap as a back-up).
I carry the SqueezeLock mounted, old-school style, on the outside (where the belting goes across the weight) of a hard weight on my weight belt so it is not rubbing against me/my wetsuit and is easier to get to because it is a bit further away from my body.
I have another sheath mounted on the SPG hose of a reg I keep as a ?loaner? for company.
I have also mounted these knives to two different PFDs for ocean kayaking.
I like that the belt attachment on the sheath opens to go around fixed straps/belts but then CLOSES with a SCREW LOCK so it won?t fall off.
LeisurePro was good about supplying, at a reasonable price, additional sheaths so I could attach sheaths to different gear without needing a new knife for each use.
Remember to keep the ?squeezable? plastic locks well flushed and working smoothly. If they?re clean and properly working I think the knife is mostly secure. If you let junk (sand, etc.) stay in the mechanism you?ll likely lose the knife. I like the ?yellow? model?it?s easier to find if you drop it.
The late Blackie Collins, who designed this knife, was a genius.
CHARLES E I do not know as we do not have a Seahawk/or Ladyhawk. Great knife thought, we have two of them and they have been on hundreds of dives with no problems. I can't imagine it won't mount-up just fine on most BCD's.
BILL L The sheath is designed to slip on the waist belt. I find this ideal because it remains at the side and represents no tangle hazard of its own. This is also the location suggested in the DIR manual. Alternatively I have seen it mounted by making two small holes in the BCD and attaching it with stainless washers and bolts.I am sure the holes would void any warranty however.
Shopper Does it come with rubber leg straps?
MICHAEL N Previous response was wrong. the small knife (3") does not have a leg strap within, but some with several other mounting options. the large (5") version comes with the straps.
MICHAEL N Yes, two leg straps. Will fit any calf and all but the largest thighs. Awesome knife. I use mine to spike lion fish.
CATHERINE W Rubber leg straps were not included with this knife. I attach mine to my BC.
Shopper Can this knife be mounted onto Seaquest Black Diamond BC?
LeisurePro S This knife fits most standard knife grommets and should attach fine to your Seaquest.
