Shopper I am looking to get scuba certified, but since I do not live near the ocean, I plan on taking the course while on vacation in S. Florida. I called the dive shop down there that will be doing the certification and they said to buy the workbook and have it completed when I come, then they will complete the rest of the training. Is this what I need? It includes a workbook to complete?
CHARLES M This is the correct packet. It contains your records file folder for the dive shop, the manual with worksheets, blue log book (for basic open water through advanced), and a dive table. There is also a PADI Open Water DVD #70831, $30.95 at LeisurePro, that you should get and watch the appropriate section with each chapter in the book.

NICHOLAS B Hi I am a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, yes the book is the same material as in the elearning, but it's convenient to have the manual to hand for reference and it will help you answer the questions in the elearn review you will have with your Instructor. You also get a hard copy of your Air Dive Tables the Recreational Dive Planner RDP and a Log Book which your Instructor will complete with your Dive Training Records. Happy Diving.
PAUL V It is the same material, but, I like the book better because it's, in my opinion more hands on. If u have an e book/ipad it could work for you but again I like to have a pencil with me and fill in the questions. As I go.

I'm not familiar with the e-learning online class, however, this pak is what you'll need for your first Open Water Certification with PADI's program.

L. MICHAEL M I purchased the OW crew-pak for my son. The e-learning class goes over everything in the crew-pak but I wanted my son to have the tables and work with them instead of using the online tables. Access to the e-learning class goes away after a year so I wanted my son to be able to keep the book and tables with him as he progresses as a scuba diver. I'm working on my Dive Master certification now but I still refer to my Open Water book and tables.
That doesn't mean that I don't like the e-learning, I think it's exceptional and my son did the OW e-learning. I just wanted him to have the materials at hand for reference.
