Questions about this item:
Shopper Hi I need 2 sets of the 2/orange and 2/yellow? Not sure if you only have the orange?
Frank L We do not carry the yellow version.
Miyuki S This is the orange model (Model 255). The yellow version (Model 255E) is not currently available on the site. (May 4, 2013)
Shopper the pressure relief is on the fill side of the bouy. a full bag produces 55 lbs of lift. if lifting somthing less than 55lbs how is the dump being on the bottom going to let any air out to control ascent? will it hold air upside down and still lift? looks like a poor design but maybe i dont understand how it is to be used. all other bags have the dump on top
TIM P I would not use this as a lift bag. A great marker buoy but it is not a lift bag.
DANIEL S That's because this is NOT a lift bag. It's a surface marker buoy (SMB). SMBs cannot, and should not, be used as lift bags, for exactly the reason you mention.
ARCHIE A It's not really a proper lift bag. It is sort of a giant safety sausage that has a huge amount of lift capacity built into it. It does not perform either role very well, unfortunately. Far too much lift (and inability to control it) for use as a safety sausage, and far too limited lift control for use as a lift bag. I believe it is best used in limited applications where someone would want to lift up moderately heavy objects from underwater, while simultaneously marking them for a surface boat. Other than that, I'm not quite sure why this device was invented. I used this device once as a safety sausage in Cozumel. I immediately bought a normal safety sausage afterwards, haha.
RALPH B The valve is not a dump valve but an oral inflator!
D.ROY C it is a surface marker buoy, not a lift bag, the over pressure valve is to relieve pressure if the bag is deployed from depth
DAVID T H First of all, the relief valve is in the right location for diver access. If located at the top, it would be inaccessible to a diver , especially since the marker is on a tether and several feet above. Second, if pressure needs to be reduced, water pressure will squeeze the marker thus, reducing the pressure. Pressure relief out of the water is no problem since there is positive pressure in the marker and it will deflate to atmospheric pressure, and once at atmospheric pressure, the remaining pressure can be squeezed out by hand. Third, the primary purpose of the marker is for diver location on the surface, not as a lift bag per say. It does make for a good safety stop anchor. Inflate it hold the attached line and release it to the surface. Hold on to the line, an adjust your buoyancy and hang on ot 20 ft
Hope this helps.
Justin F Can you orally inflate this product?
DANIEL S You cannot orally inflate this bag. Those who said above that the bag has an inflator mouthpiece are wrong. You CAN, however, use they exhaust bubbles from your reg to inflate this bag.
VITALIY G Well, you can, but it is not practical (no mouthpiece).
GREG G The design is for the air source to fill from the bottom (end with the larger loop). It would be possible to orally inflate, but it isn't really practical to do so. It would also be difficult to inflate it to a pressure point where it would stand up when inflated at the surface.
DONALD M It doesn't have a mouthpiece for oral inflation. It is designed to be inflated at depth like a lift bag by purging air from your regulator into it from below.
FRED G Hi Justin. You could orally inflate it, but it wouldn't be very practical. This type of SMB is fairly high volume. I can probably better halp you select the best SMB for your purposes, if you email me directly at: Doriadiver11@aol.com, and tell me a little bit about the type of diving you're doing (offshore--ocean diving), where you plan to dive (traveling to exotic locations ?), and your experience level. Then I can reply with some better advice about which product(s) would be best suited. Once again, my direct email address is: Doriadiver11@aol.com. I've been diving since 1974, an instructor since 1981, and was a commercial diver in the oil/gas industry for a number of years in the Gulf of Mexico, so I'm sure I can offer you good advice. Best Regards
Fred
D.ROY C it's an open bottom with a one way flapper valve, so i guess you could blow bubbles into it, it has no mouthpiece to inflate it, , you would normally inflate by using a second stage or your compensator hose
DANIEL C I don't think It's intended for oral use (that's what she said)
JAMES D Don't know haven't tried. Being underwater though it would take forever if u could.
PHILIP H No. You do it with your regulator.
Shopper Is there a velcro strap to keep hold all together when wrapped up?
LeisurePro S This signal tube, OMSLB5, does not have a velcro/clip fastener. You can add something like this clip to keep the tube wrapped up and attached to your BCD/inside pocket.
Shopper Does this come with a line? If not, what do you suggest to use?
LeisurePro S No, this does not come with a line-- you can use a reel with line ( like this) if you plan on releasing the buoy from below the surface.
Shopper I would want to know if the Marker Buoy includes any type of carrying bag
Shopper What material is this made of and what is the diameter?
LeisurePro S Laminated Nylon. 7 inch
Shopper does the dump valve on the SMB manual only or does it also work as an overpressure ? overpressure valve would be very helpfull to a novice diver like me who does not know how much air to put when lauching from the safety stop
LeisurePro S Has an overpressure valve as well, so not to worry.
Shopper How does this marker buoy fill and how does it seal? I want to use if for a safety stop. Thanks, Bill
LeisurePro S This marker buoy fills with your second stage, and it has a one-way inlet valve to seal. This will be perfact to use for a safety stop.

You just found a 20lbs davenport anchor and can't figure out how you can get this prize back to the surface. You need a lift bag. You never know what you're going to find on a dive that is worth money, so always pack a lift bag when you go diving. OMS offers Lift Bags and Marker Buoy's with manual dump valves and unique "non-air spill" openings that prevent lift bag from dumping air or taking on water when it hits the surface. All Lift bags have a point of attachment for a slate. This Lift/Marker Buoy is compact yetversatile as a Safety Sausage or a small Lift bag OMS Model #BCA-255 SMB - 5'2" (157 cm) L - 30 lb.
