Craig E I currently dive with an Aeris Elite T3 AI Computer and would like to know if anyone else uses a full console as a "back up" to their computer? While this would be a safe way to dive would this be overkill? Would a single SPG be a better alternative?
Any thoughts would be helpful...

MARY ANN O When diving redundancy is the name of the game. Diving in Puerto Rico my VT3's rubber seal cracked had to borrow dive masters combo gauges. What if, I would have been stuck on the boat waiting to hear stories of what I missed.

BRIAN M I don't usually bring back ups because you can always safely ascend if you dive within recreational limits. However, I've very recently begun technical diving in caves, and backups are necessary in those conditions, so I dive with a 2nd computer. If I didn't have the computer then this dual gauge combo would be a minimum since your Aeris is air integrated and you'd lose depth and pressure if the computer died.
ANDRES A the SPG is enough, if the computer fails to communicate with the transmitter you will know how much air you have to do a safe ascent with out the risk of an out of air situation.

ARTHUR M Mine is 7/16, my older units had high and low pressure were the same which would be 3/8.
DARRYL H Can the gauge be swapped out for a computer, and if so, how easy/difficult is it - and what dimensions are workable for this?
MICHAEL B Darryl, I bought this console to replace my older Oceanic 3 gauge console (Depth, SPG and compass on back). This console contains the depth and the SPG. It is different in that it is of a harder material than my original soft rubber one. Not exactly sure what it would accomodate since I just took a look at it and the end opposite the hose connection to the SPG appears to be deeper as console is deeper so not sure why that is. I am not even sure if my old gauges would fit in this one. It has the name "Swiv" on the side of it and it appears that the dia for the gauge that it would house is 2 1/4 ". Hope this is enough info for you but if you need more info feel free to email me directly and perhaps I can get you the exact info that you need.

Monica s Yes you can, the depth gauge just pops out and you can put a computer in. If you choose an oceanic module or similar type module it will fit.
