Chrisse H Is this regulator balanced and if so in both stages?
JANUS M No, it is unbalanced; however, it is a good set up. I have logged over 50 dives on mine with no issues. At 40 M, it draws smoothly.
JESSICA J Unbalanced piston first stage. Paired with GT3 second stage breathing is still easy with low PSI. Best for warm water diving.

JOHN H I love my GT3 but I do not ice dive. I would sugest the Oceanic EOS.
JOHN H I never used it for ice diving but i did use it in Bonne Terre MO and that's 58 degree water with no problems and I trust Oceanic to make quality products. you may want to upgrade the first stage to the CDX-5 or go with the Oceanic EOS with the FDX-10 if you plan to do a lot of ice diving.
DAVID P I've never been ice diving but I wouldn't think this regulator is suitable for those conditions. That's something I'd have to research myself.

Whats in the box:1st Stage, 2nd Stage, LP Braided Hose The GT3 adjustable second stage is paired with the SP5 first stage for a good regulator system with a low price. SECOND STAGE The GT3 is one of Oceanic's easiest breathing second stages. It offers diver adjustable inhalation, which desensitizes the second stage so it won't free-flow during shore entries or long surface swims. Additionally, the GT3 has Oceanic's patented Dynamic Adjustment feature. This allows a diver to set a preferred breathing resistance. You won't have to make the adjustment more than once, the GT3 maintains the setting no matter how deep or how shallow you go. One of Oceanic's lightest and most compact second stages, the GT3 weighs just 5.8 ounces; the front of the super sturdy ABS/polycarbonate housing is only 2.67 inches in diameter. Its lightweight and anatomically designed mouthpiece translates into a second stage that doesn't cause jaw strain, even during long dives. FIRST STAGE At 26 ounces, the SP5 is one of Oceanic's lightest first stages and features an unbalanced piston design. Machined from marine brassand chrome plated, it offers one high pressure port and four low pressure ports, space for all your necessities and accessories.
